MarkeTo BIA Seasonal Food Drives Donating to Families in Need
Since its inception, the MarkeTo District has always been focused on community, and along with its wide array of cultural influences, one of the pillars of the community around the district and the businesses, organizations and individuals who live and work here has been lending a helping hand when needed.
This is never more showcased by the significant efforts made regarding assisting families in need and addressing food security issues through multiple food drives throughout the year. Over the course of any year, the MarkeTo District collects thousands of pounds of nonperishable food items to be donated to local food banks. In 2018 alone, the MarkeTo District Food Drives collected approximately 3,200 lbs of food, all donated to North York Harvest, a local food bank.
The entities, businesses and organizations that participate might be incredibly different themselves, and can include schools, churchs, grocery stores, furniture stores, fish and meat shops, bakeries, delis, tattoo parlers, hardware stores, autoshops and banks, but all of these organizations come together with the goal of assisting those in need.
