Cold Hands, Warm Hearts and Full Garbage Bags!

The MarkeTo BIA does it’s very best to maintain the beautiful community in which we operate. This can be a challenge with all the traffic in the area, which generates a surprising amount of trash that does not always find it’s way into a bin, and sometimes you just have to roll up your sleeves and get to work.

This is hard to do alone however, and on November 07, 2018, the BIA held one of its many Community Clean up events of the year, and likely the last one before snow starts to cover the ground. With a solid bunch of determined students from Fieldstone Day School, we were able to collect as much trash as we could carry.

Over the year, the MarkeTo District BIA has been blown away by the support of what seems like such a basic (and if not the most appealing) initiative. From schools such as Fieldstone, to soccer teams like North York Futebol Club, to employees of Lady York Foods and IC Savings, all manner of individuals showed up. A cumulative total of hundreds of volunteers did their best to maintain the area, picking up all manners of plastic, wrappers, paper and other trash in an effort to make a dent. This batch of volunteers were especially dedicated, braving cold weather that was pushing 0 degrees Celsius with the wind chill.

Their efforts were rewarded with artisan pizza and mini pastries procured at a neighborhood favourite, Amico Chef. Our hungry volunteers were not disappointed. See you all next year!
